Andres Vikat
Chief of the Social and Demographic Statistics Section, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)
Andres Vikat is with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) as Chief of the Social and Demographic Statistics Section. Work under his responsibility includes the development of guidelines on statistical methodology, building national statistical capacities, measuring progress on the Sustainable Development Goals and organization of the Conference of European Statisticians. Previously, as head of the UNECE Population Unit, he was leading the pan-European Generations and Gender Programme of data collection and research, and the implementation of the United Nations policy framework on ageing. Andres holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki.
