Samantha Watson

Biography

Samantha Watson is a Labour Statistician in the ILO Statistics Department. She is working with ILO colleagues, national statistics offices, and specialised research institutes to develop new evidence, tools, and guidance to support the regular production of statistics on unpaid domestic and care work, via countries’ existing Labour Force Survey infrastructure. This programme of work is a response to increasing international and national demand for accurate, timely, and cost-effective statistics on unpaid care work. Samantha’s prior research focussed on rural livelihoods, labour migration, and gendered divisions of time and labour, with a strong methodological focus.
