Lupe Tupou

Biography

Lupe Tupou is the Principal Statistician at the Tonga Statistics Department in 2019. She has been leading the Population and Social Statistics program since 2020. Work under her responsibility includes the planning and management of Population and Social Statistics activities. She also provides assistance on gender as a gender statistics advisor. In 2022, Lupe managed the Equality Insights Rapid Survey and Gender and Environment Survey data collection in Tonga. Prior to joining Tonga Statistics Department, Lupe worked for the Ministry of Education in Tonga as a Senior Lecturer. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Science in Demography from Waikato University, New Zealand.
