Leila Ben Ali

Biography

Leila Ben Ali is Head of Statistics at the African Union Commission (STATAFRIC). Previously Head of the Gender and Development Division in the Women's Directorate in the African Union (AU), Ben Ali was the first Tunisian woman engineer in statistics.

As Deputy Director at the Ministry of Women, Leila specialized in demographic and social studies before embarking on a career as a university lecturer at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Sfax, Tunisia. Among her major works is the monitoring of the project to create the African Institute of Statistics recently established in Tunis.
