Elena Kukharevich

Biography

Ms. Elena Kukharevich is the First Deputy Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus (Belstat). Her work record in statistics is 35 years, of which 15 years in higher managerial positions.

Since her start as the Deputy Chairperson of Belstat in 2008, Ms Kukharevich has been supervising social statistics domains, including gender statistics, the level and quality of living, labour market, domestic trade, services and price statistics. Later on she assumed the responsibility to guide the monitoring of SDGs at the national level.

She is an acknowledged national expert in gender statistics and is a member of the National Council on Gender Policy under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. She is also a member of the Council for Sustainable Development and heads the SDG Monitoring Team. In 2017 – 2021 she was a member of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDG).
