Classification uses
4 (a)Please state for which statistical purposes (surveys etc.) this classification is used and if there are users outside of the Statistical Office. Please indicate at which level the classification is used for data collection and for data publishing.Classification is used for the Household Budget survey (COICOP/HBS: Divisions 01 to 12 of COICOP cover the individual consumption expenditures of households), Price Statistics (CPI/HICP), Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs) and in National Accounts.

More detailed classifications were developed at national level for CPI, PPP and HBS to cover national needs. Therefore,

 COICOP/HBS is used for data collection and data publishing at 7th digit level for the Household Budget survey.

 COICOP/HBS is used for the calculation of Household Final Consumption Expenditure, in the context of the compilation of National Accounts. Collection of primary data on Consumption Expenditure is made at the 7-digit level and data are published at the 3-digit level of the classification.

 COICOP/HICP is used for the compilation of the “GDP expenditure weights questionnaire” in National Accounts.

 COICOP/HICP is used for the CPI, HICP and PPPs data collection and publishing. Data publishing is made at the 5-digit level for the CPI and 4-digit level for the HICP.
