Detailed structure includes Division (2 digits), Group (3 digits), Class (4 digits) and Subclass (5 digits). Coding of Division level starts from 01 to 99, and coding of other levels starts from 1 to 9.

With an example of code 15412, the first 2 digits “15” specify Division Level; the first 3 digits “154” identify Group Level; the first 4 digits “1541” show Class Level and all 5 digits “15412” represent Subclass Level.

Classification uses

Please indicate at which level the classification is used for data collection and for data publishing.To classify the economic activity of the establishments in annual economic activities surveys; as well as the economic activity engaged by employer of the respondents in household surveys. DSEC collects data at Subclass Level (5 digits) and the data published at 2-digit or 3-digit level.

CAM-Rev.1 is also used by other government departments and universities in research and data analysis. Data collected and data published are generally at 1-digit level.
