At its first meeting in March 2016 the TSG-COICOP discussed the time frame for the revision and drafted a first proposal for a new revised structure of COICOP. This draft was submitted to a global consultation in late 2016.

The TSG-COICOP will now meet again to discuss the questions and comments received during the second global consultation and to resolve the remaining issues. During this meeting the TSG-COICOP will also discuss and finalize the new drafts for Divisions 01 and 06 that are currently being prepared as a reaction to the comments received during the second global consultation. The aim is to find good solutions for all stakeholders of the classification, to accommodate conflicting interests, and to reach a consensus for all divisions.

Hence, the main objectives of the meeting are to (i) finalise the structure of the revised COICOP, (ii) to reach consensus on any issues that are still debated, and (iii) to organise the upcoming work of the TSG making the revised COICOP ready for endorsement by the UNSC.
