This inaugural report of the Cayman Islands’ Balance of Payments describes the conceptual framework and process of implementation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Balance of Payments Manual (BPM5) in compiling the current account for the Cayman Islands. This report focuses specifically of the current account. The current account is the balance of payments for goods and services, income and transfer transactions of the Cayman Islands’ residents against the residents of the rest of the world.
The report covers the concepts and definitions, data sources and compilation methods employed in the case of the Cayman Islands. The preliminary estimates are also presented in the report.
