International Workshop on the DDI Metadata Standard
and the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit

The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), the International Household Survey Network (IHSN) and the World Bank (WB), is organizing an International Workshop on the DDI Metadata Standard and the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit, from 17 to 19 June 2013 in Beijing, China. The workshop aims to strengthen the technical capacity of National Statistical Offices of Asian countries to document, catalog and publish survey microdata.

This workshop is being conducted as part of the project on strengthening statistical capacity development in China and other developing countries in Asia funded by the Chinese Government. The workshop will introduce the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) metadata standard and related international best practices for the documentation and dissemination of survey microdata. The workshop will include practical, hands-on sessions on the use of specialized software (the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit) for the documentation, cataloguing and dissemination of microdata.
