British Statistical Literacy Campaign Will Be Launched on 20 October
8 October 2010 -- The United Kingdom’s Royal Statistical Society will launch an ambitious ten-year
statistical literacy campaign called Getstats on 20 October 2010, coinciding with the first World Statistics Day. The statistical literacy campaign aims
to build statistical understanding across society, ensuring that all people get the most out of data. The campaign will focus on increasing public awareness
of the benefits of statistics, enabling everybody to gain a better understanding of the society they live in and the world around them through statistical
know-how and skills. The campaign is taking a networked approach. The Society will be aligning its programmes and activities, and forming alliances, with a
range of existing and new partners. Working in this way we will reach far wider audiences from school children, employers, the media, parliament and users
of statistics in the workplace to citizen users. More info is available on www.getstats.org.uk.
