The article covers the information on the civil registration and vital statistics systems in Mexico. Recommendations for the improvement of civil registration and vital statistics systems are also provided.

The article was prepared based on the report provided by the Bureau of Vital Statistics and Social Statistics Department, Institute of National Statistics, Geography and Informatics, and the Civil Registry Record, National Population and Personal Identification in Mexico.

The article was prepared for the 1991 United Nations Latin American Workshop on Strategies for Accelerating the Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Systems, held in Buenos Aires, 2-6 December 1991.
