Data availability for China prior to 1984

Q: I have a question related to China’s trade data. I cannot get data for China’s trade with other countries (for total trade in STIC1 classification) prior to 1984. Do you see any reason for that?

A: We do not have data prior to 1984 for reporter China in our UN Comtrade database. If you check the data availability on the UN Comtrade website by reporter you can check which revisions and for which years the data is available for a specific reporter.

You may wish to contact the China Statistical Office for any information prior to 1984 as we only carry data from this year onwards.
