Presentation on 5th Population and Housing Census of Sudan

25 February 2009, 9:00 - 10:00 am
Conference Room C
United Nations, New York

Sudan included plans for its 5th population and housing census in the historic Naivasha agreement when the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) was signed in January 2005 bringing to an end over 23 years of civil war between the North and the South. The field enumeration was successfully carried out during 22nd April to 6th May 2008. The results are expected in mid February 2009. This side meeting will provide an insight into resource mobilization, conduct of the census, technical coordination and support and monitoring. It will also highlight some of the challenges of conducting censuses in a post conflict country.
