Series: Y, No.9
Youth are at the forefront of global, social, economic and political developments. Statistical Charts and Indicators on the Situation of Youth is a statistical and analytical sourcebook that uses charts and graphs to highlight main aspects and trends in the social and economic situation of youth from 1980-1995 in 202 countries. The format and statistics are as simple as possible so that they can readily be understood and used by non-specialists. The five chapters cover population, education and training, economic activity, health and child-bearing, and households and marital status. The charts and tables are accompanied by statements of how the indicators are defined, where the data are from and how they can be interpreted. The book was prepared by the Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat to promote the development of statistics and indicators to contribute to improved awareness and policies on youth. It updates previous issues from 1992 and 1985.
