Series: M, No.64
Languages available:*E, *F, *R, *S
This manual brings together work on the development of national accounts, and price and quantity statistics. A System of National Accounts 1993 discusses how SNA can be used as a basis for quantity and price comparisons. The manual reviews in more detail the various conceptual problems involved and gives practical guidance on the compilation of a set of consistent and balanced accounts at constant prices. The Guidelines on Principles of a System of Price and Quantity Statistics outline an interrelated framework for the collection and compilation of elementary and aggregate index numbers of prices and quantities. The recommendations contained in the manual elaborate on that part of the overall framework that relates to the data required for national accounts. The publication reviews: coverage of the accounts at constant prices; valuation; choice of index number; quantity, quality and volume; services; choice between price deflation and quantity extrapolation; value added at constant prices; trade and transport margins; commodity taxes and import duties; and estimation of product at constant prices: problem industries.
