The Statistics Division is committed
to the advancement of the global statistical system. We compile
and disseminate global statistical information, develop standards
and norms for statistical activities, and support countries’ efforts
to strengthen their national statistical systems. We facilitate
the coordination of international statistical activities and
support the functioning of the UN Statistical Commission as the apex

| The Millennium Development Goals Report 2008, accompanied by two Progress Charts, will be launched by the Secretary-General on 11 September. This annual publication presents the latest available data and analysis on the progress towards the achievement of the MDGs at the global and regional levels. This year’s Report shows how the world has fared at the mid-point towards 2015, the target date for achieving the Goals and will serve as one of the background documents for the High-level Session of the General Assembly to be held on 25 September. more.. |
