- Independent survey
- To provide statistical data on
the time spent by people and types of activities they
engage in, as relevant to policy and decision making,
including: statistics on time spent on paid and unpaid
work, time spent by the unemployed searching for jobs,
leisure pursuits, caring for children and the elderly,
information on the hidden economy

Description
Main instrument
for recording activities is a time diary from 12 midnight
to 12 midnight; activity recording is per 30-minute
interval during the night and 15-minutes interval
during the day; post-coding.
Household
questionnaire includes questions on who gives and
receives care within the household; an individual
questionnaire includes questions on participation
in leisure and culture-related activities
Recording of simultaneous activities
Only the main activity was recorded
Context variables
Paid/unpaid; with whom; where- location
and transport

CLASSIFICATION
UN trial classification: 10 major
groups; 80 2-digit groups
TIME SAMPLE
Covers whole year on a continuous
basis: each
respondent provides diary data for one day; respondent
diary days are distributed so that total survey data
covers one whole year; total daily sample of 11 households
REFERENCE POPULATION
Description
All persons aged 10 years and above
Sample selection
From 4,018 sample households, one
male and one female eligible member were randomly
selected for the survey for a toal of 8,038 respondents
