The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) has established a work programme to assist policy-makers and statisticians in countries to meet the growing demand for poverty statistics and related information by building up a system of poverty measurement which is responsive to national and international data needs. In this context, UNSD has launched in April 2003 a project with an expected output of a publication entitled Handbook on Poverty Statistics: Concepts, Methods and Policy Use. This site presents the "work-in-progress" on this project. It reports on the organization and implementation of the project activities including panel discussions, four regional workshops and one expert group meeting planned during the lifetime of the project. It also presents the intermediary output and the development of the Handbook. For further information contact: Gisele Kamanou |
