MDGInfo 2011 available online!

MDGInfo 2011

MDGInfo 2011 is available online. This database system is designed for the compilation and presentation of development indicators to support data users in their MDG monitoring. The MDG goals and targets are imbedded in the system linked to the MDG indicators in a goal monitoring framework.

MDGInfo has been adapted from DevInfo and presents country-level statistics available as of July 2011 for the global monitoring of progress achieved towards the MDGs since 1990.

MDG Report 2011 released

The Millennium Development Goals Report 2011 was launched in Geneva by the Secretary-General on 7 July 2011. The report, which presents the yearly assessment of global progress towards the MDGs, shows that although significant strides have been made, reaching all the MDGs by 2015 remains challenging because progress has failed to reach the most vulnerable. The report indicates what is required to ensure continued progress.(Press materials)

The report is based on a master set of data compiled by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on MDG indicators led by the Statistics Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

The report is available in all UN languages. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

MDG Progress Chart 2011

Most of the targets included in the Millennium Development Goals framework are to be achieved by 2015 — promising clear and measurable improvements from standards prevailing in 1990. The MDGs break down into 21 quantifiable targets that are measured by 60 indicators. The MDG Progress Chart 2011 presents an assessment of progress as of June 2011 towards selected key targets relating to each Goal.

The chart is available in all UN languages. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

21st Inter-agency and Expert Group Meeting on MDG Indicators opens in New York

The International Conference on MDGs Statistics was held in Manila, Philippines.

The second International Conference on MDGs Statistics, organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and the Philippine National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) was held in Manila, from 19-21 October 2011. The conference brought together more than 100 representatives from national statistics offices and international agencies to review the MDG monitoring strategies in place and propose recommendations for improved monitoring approaches. Participants reviewed and discussed MDG monitoring tools and strategies and made a number of recommendations to strengthen countries' capacity to monitor the MDGs at the national and sub-national level and to improve existing monitoring approaches.
