| Description |
The two trade systems in common use by which international merchandise trade statistics are compiled are the general trade system and the special trade system. In the general trade system the statistical territory of a country coincides with its economic territory. In special trade systems the statistical territory comprises only a a particular part of the economic territory, for example where there are free circulation areas or "free zones".
