Subgroup on Mineral and Energy Accounts

The Subgroup of the London Group on Mineral and Energy Accounts was established by the London Group during its meeting in Rome in November 2003 and its functioning was further reconfirmed at the London Group meeting in Copenhagen in September 2004.

The UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting (UNCEEA) at its Preliminary Meeting in August 2005 has endorsed the draft Terms of Reference of the Subgroup. Statistics Denmark will chair the subgroup with the assistance of UNSD.

The Group will work in close cooperation with the Oslo Group on Energy Statistics.

The objectives of the subgroup are to:

Further research in mineral and energy accounts and, in particular, contribute to the research agenda currently being developed for the update of the SEEA 2003;

Contribute to the preparation of a publication on Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting for Energy; and

Facilitate the sharing of information and country practices among countries/international organizations working in the field.

A password-protected website will be created to facilitate the sharing of material and communication within the subgroup.
