Environmental-Economic Accounting

The Environmental-Economic Accounts Section focuses its activities on the following areas:

Methodology through the advancement and standardization of statistical methods, classifications and definitions in the area and the publication of statistical standards, compilation guidelines and training materials;

Coordination of the activities in the development and standardization of methodologies and implementation practices through active collaboration with other international organizations, countries, NGO’s academia and city groups, in particular the London Group on Environmental Accounting and the UN Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting to which it provides the Secretariat;

Technical cooperation and assistance to countries through workshops and country projects.

A global consultation on the International Recommendations for Water Statistics (IRWS) has been launched. The deadline for comments is 30 Nov. 2009.
 
The 15th Meeting of the London Group will be held in Wiesbaden, Germany from 30 November to 4 December 2009.
 
The International Seminar on Environment Statistics and Accounting was held in Rio de Janeiro from 21 to 22 September 2009.
 
The Fourth Meeting of the UNCEEA was held in New York, UN Headquarters from 24-26 June 2009.
 
The Technical Workshop on the Preparation of Water Accounts in Latin America took place in Santiago, Chile from 1–4 June 2009.
 
The Fifth World Water Forum was held in Istanbul, Turkey from 16-22 March 2009.
