The System of Environmental-Economic Accounts (SEEA) Central Framework was adopted as the international statistical standard for environmental-economic accounts by the UN Statistical Commission in 2012. It contains the internationally agreed standard concepts, definitions, classifications, accounting rules and tables for producing internationally comparable statistics on the environment and its relationship with the economy.

International Recommendations for Water Statistics (IRWS)

Part I, International Recommendations, provides the main concepts on water statistics, including definitions and classifications of statistical units related to water and a list of recommended data items that countries are encouraged to compile. Part II, Guidance for Implementation, provides general guidance on the collection and compilation of the water statistics, in particular on data sources, data quality, data collection strategies and dissemination. Reference information, including definition of all data items, are included in a series of annexes.

System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for Water (SEEA-Water)

The System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for Water, commonly referred to as SEEA-Water, is a conceptual framework for the organization of physical and economic information, developed with the purpose of providing an integrated conceptual framework to support water policy design and evaluation. It uses concepts, definitions and classifications coherent with those of the System of National Accounts. SEEA-Water is a subsystem of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA), which provides internationally agreed standards for the compilation of measures about the environment and its interactions with the economy.

Handbook of National Accounting: Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting for Fisheries (SEEA-F)
2004
The SEEA-F provides a common framework for organizing economic and environmental information related to fisheries, permitting the monitoring of the economic importance of fisheries, the improvement of fisheries management and the estimation of the full costs and benefits of fisheries. The integration of economic and environmental information in the SEEA-F framework provides a useful tool for Integrated Coastal Area Management, adopted in Agenda 21, as it allows the evaluation of costs and benefits of different fisheries and non-fisheries policies and development strategies.

Handbook of National Accounting: Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting 2003 (SEEA 2003)

The SEEA 2003 is a satellite system of the System of National Accounts. It brings together economic and environmental information in a common framework to measure the contribution of the environment to the economy and the impact of the economy on the environment. It provides policy-makers with indicators and descriptive statistics to monitor these interactions as well as a database for strategic planning and policy analysis to identify more sustainable paths of development.

The SEEA 1993 presents concepts, methods and classifications which incorporate environmental concerns including natural resource depletion, environmental quality degradation and environmental protection into national accounts by means of a system of integrated environmental and economic accounting (SEEA). The main objective of integrated accounting is to support integrated social, economic and environmental policy by means of environmentally adjusted indicators of national wealth, net domestic product, consumption and capital formation. The handbook will be used, in particular, to assist countries in implementing national programmes or case studies of environmental accounting.
