Main duties
The DGEEC is charged with the production, analysis and dissemantion of statistics for the country.
The most important data sources are: population and housing censuses, household surveys, statistics produced by other public institutions (trade, industry, services, vital statistics, health, education, judicial statistics etc.).

Legal basis
Decree-Law 11126 governs the statistical services of the Republic of Paraguay. The law also states that: (a) private enterprises, establishments, corporations, or administrations of any kind, and, in general, all persons entrusted with the general management thereof, are required to provide such statistical data as may be requested of them, on the understanding that it will not be disclosed and will be used only to assess the various aspects of national life; and (b) the publication, disclosure, dissemination or any other improper use that may be made or attempted of information pertaining to individual commercial operations or individual commercial firms is prohibited and subject to sanctions.

Release calendar (existence, when and how published)
No advance release calendars are published. However, there are internal dates for the release of the publications "Trabajo Estadístico de apoyo al Congreso" and "Economía y Sociedad," which are regularly adhered to.
