Towards revised International Recommendations for DTS

This page has been created to keep the international statistical community updated on the progress and the latest developments in the ongoing revision of the International Recommendations for Distributive Trade Statistics (IRDTS) and to involve all interested parties in the revision process.

The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) has launched a revision of the existing recommendations for Distributive Trade Statistics with the objective of providing more up to date guidance to countries on the compilation and dissemination of distributive trade (wholesale and retail trade) data.

This initiative was broadly endorsed by the Statistical Commission (see p.8 of document) at its thirty-seventh session in March 2006. The Commission particularly recommended that the revision process should be carried out in close consultation with national statistical offices in order to fully reflect the specific needs and circumstances of various groups of countries.
