United Nations Statistics Division has issued standards and methods to assist national statistical authorities and other producers of statistics in the collection, compilation and dissemination of data from social and demographic administrative records.

Examples of this are the Manual for the Development of a System of Criminal Justice Statistics which was issued in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).
