Some important findings:

Women are generally marrying later but more than a quarter of women aged 15 to 19 are married in 22 countries---all in developing regions.

Informal unions are common in developed regions and in some countries of the developing regions.

Birth rates continue to decline in all regions of the world.

Births to unmarried women have increased dramatically in developed regions.

More people are living alone in the developed regions, and the majority are women.

In many countries of the developed regions, more than half of mothers with children under age three are employed.
