Detailed structure and explanatory notes

ICATUS code 0112

Structure   Notes

Hierarchy
  • Major Division: 01 - Work for corporations/quasi-corporations, non-profit institutions and government (formal sector work)
  • Division: 011 - Core activities: working in "formal sector" employment
  • Group: 0112 - Other breaks

Breakdown:

This Group is divided into the following Classes:

  • 01121 - Idle time before/after work
  • 01122 - Lunch break from work

Explanatory note

Note: These activities are generally applicable only to persons whose jobs have fixed working time schedules (for example, "8-5" jobs), have prescribed lunch break hours etc. May not be applicable for workers with more flexible working schedules such as self-employed or home-based workers.
Application: How to classify activities that are performed during the break such as eating lunch, talking, smoking etc. When simultaneous activities are recorded, each activity is to be recorded. If activities are prioritized as main, secondary etc., the specific activity being performed during the break is to be treated as the primary activity and codes 01121 or 01122 as referring to secondary activities. If simultaneous activities are not recorded, prioritization rule needs to be defined.

Exclusion: Business meetings are classified under the appropriate classes 01111-01113.
