Explanatory note This class includes mining of minerals valued chiefly for nitrogen, potassium or phosphorus. Guano mining is included. Mining of native sulphur or pyrites and pyrrhotites valued chiefly for sulphur. Mining of natural barium bearing ores (barytes, witherite); natural borates and concentrates containing compounds of boron; natural magnesium sulphates (kieserite). Mining of other minerals valued chiefly as a source of chemicals, e.g. earth colours and fluorspar. Exclusions: Salt mining is classified in class 1422 (Extraction of salt).
