Explanatory note This class includes production of tanned or dressed leather; vegetable, mineral or chemical tanning. It also includes manufacture of chamois-dressed, parchment dressed, or patent and metallized leathers and of composition leather, i.e. slabs, sheets or strip of a material with a basis of leather or leather fibre. Exclusions: Production of raw hides and skins as part of the activity of slaughtering is classified in class 1511 (Production, processing and preserving of meat and meat products). Manufacture of leather apparel is classified in class 1810 (Manufacture of wearing apparel, except fur apparel). Tanning or dressing of furskins or hides with the hair on is classified in class 1820 (Dressing and dyeing of fur; manufacture of articles of fur).
