This Section is divided into the following Divisions:

  • 65 - Financial intermediation, except insurance and pension funding
  • 66 - Insurance and pension funding, except compulsory social security
  • 67 - Activities auxiliary to financial intermediation
Explanatory note

This sector comprises units primarily engaged in financial transactions, i.e. transactions involving the creation, liquidation or change of ownership of financial assets. Also included are insurance and pension funding (division 66) and activities facilitating financial transactions (division 67). Units charged with monetary control, the monetary authorities, are included here.

This sector does not include compulsory social security (see 7530).
