| 5 | Please describe deviations from the international standard (if any)
(Use one or two examples, if general statement not possible) | (1) There are slightly differences between Chinese Industrial Classification and ISIC. The Chinese one takes the factors of sectoral administration into considerations as well as the nature of economic activities. For instance, "Logging and Related Service Activities" is classified in the section of "Mining" in China, while it is classified in division "Forestry" in ISIC. Moreover, the mining and agglomeration of coal are put together into one division in ISIC, but they are put separately into different classes in China because they belong to different administrative organs. (2) NBS of China does not provide individual categories for those activities that are not existed or still undeveloped or not considered as important to the economy as a whole even though they are classified into certain divisions in ISIC. For instance, "Extra-Territorial Organization and Bodies" is an individual section in ISIC, but it is not shown separately in Chinese classification. On the contrary, some categories such as "geological prospecting and water conservancy" and "scientific research and polytechnic services" which are regarded as independent sections in Chinese classification. But they are not listed separately in ISIC. Some of the difference vanished in the revised edition of 2002. For example we classified the "Logging and Related Service Activities" from "Mining" to "Forestry". |
