Maintaining knowledge of the New Zealand Census

This paper by Statistics New Zealand, New Zealand, discusses the issue of maintaining census capability during intercensal years which is important as a risk-management strategy. Maintaining census capability can help to ensure that census information continues to be available to the required quality standard. The capability is needed both with staff and with documentation. This paper looks at the particular circumstances of the New Zealand census, and the operation of the census cycle.

Paper presented at the Symposium on Global Review of 2000 Round of Population and Housing Censuses: Mid-Decade Assessment and Future Prospects, New York, 7-10 August 2001.
