Population and Housing Census in Ghana


The paper presents the experience from the 2000 census in Ghana including problems encountered as well as preparations for the 2010 census. It discusses the recommended core topics, tabulations, census management and other issues (based on the UN publication “Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses, Revision 2”) in the context of the Ghana census.

The paper was prepared in the context of the “United Nations Workshop on the 2010 World Programme on Population and Housing Censuses, Maputo, Mozambique, 30 October – 2 November 2006”.
